Definitely v star! Used sirloin steak that saturday in the fridge with steak seasoning on it for a twenty-four hours and a half to really absorb the flavors. BBQ the sirloin rare and so thinly sliced it and set aside in training for assembly. Carmelized the onions prior to making the sandwiches, and then sauteed the peppers using light-green and red for color. Added mushrooms for a more true Philly sandwich. Used a diverseness of cheese; Manchego, Monterey and Mozarella. My favorite was the Manchego which gave it an edge. Baked the sandwiches open up faced for 5 minutes to crisp the buns, and then broiled until the cheese melted, bubbled and slightly browned. The garlic mayo made the sandwich! My family loved information technology. Thank you Tera for the keen recipe.

Superb. Based on comments read and my one Philly Phriend, I made six sandwiches. Two with provolone, two with mozarella, and (Philly) two with cheeze whiz. Provolone and mozarella were equal in outstanding taste. The cheeze whiz was expert but non upward to the others. Used everything the recipe chosen for except (above) and low fat mayo. Reheated leftovers in the oven, put in while heating to 500, when reached 500 took out, perfect. Micorwaved leftover sandwiches were non so expert.

this is a pretty good recipe. As suggested by another reviewer it tastes cracking if you add steak seasoning on the meat in the Am and let information technology sit down until dinner time and then there is no need to flavour with the salt and pepper.
06/28/2006
Cracking sandwich, but misnamed! 'Philly Cheesesteak' is very specific to it's ingredients not a blanket name for any sandwich with cheese on. Quite sacred to Philadelphians!
02/28/2003
This was a really corking recipe, specially the garlic mayo, and it was so easy to make! We used scarlet peppers also. Next time, I may apply sirloin as the meat was a tiny bit tough, and I will also add mushrooms. You lot also may want to have them piece the meat for yous at the grocery, since information technology is hard to cutting that thin with a knife. Merely overall, it was an excellent recipe!!

The garlic mayo just put this over the top for us! I halved the recipe, and added a teaspoon of tomato pesto to it likewise as a i/two teaspoon of Italian seasoning. I used thick-sliced deli roast beefiness for the steak. For us the sandwich tasted like restaurant fare--it was garlicky and cheesy with a great mingle of flavors. An awesome recipe Tera, cheers so much!

I have never had a Philly cheesesteak, but this is real good. the garlic mayo made the deviation. everyone in my dwelling house loved it. cheers for the recipe. this will exist made over and over. If yous have a difficult time cutting the meat you tin can put it in the freezer till it hardens some. once it does that take it out and it is piece of cake to piece thin.
02/10/2011
Wow ... is the bottom line on this recipe. Only alter was using my recipe instead of the Garlic Mayo. Information technology is quite like but has prepared horseradish and a few additional ingredients. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Tera ... fantastic!!
03/02/2008
I can't even begin to depict how good these were. I've wanted to attempt making Philly cheesesteak sandwiches for literally years and finally was brave enough to try them tonight. I used provolone instead of mozarella because I bought provolone thinking that was what I was supposed to have. I also used a crimson pepper in identify of a green pepper because I prefer the sweeter taste. My changes didn't make this recipe though, the recipe itself made the recipe. Soooooo delicious. I will definitely make this once again. Served with the broiled french fries from this spider web site.
05/31/2004
Turned out very skilful. I added some steak seasonings to the meat and permit information technology sit for nigh 30 minutes in the fridge. I too used sirloin instead of the meat that was chosen for. I used mozzarella cheese mixture with provel (our personal preference). The garlic mayo was just the right touch. Thanks for the post.
07/08/2010
Really good! I used pepperjack cheese for a little extra boot and DH gave two thumbs upwardly for this sandwich!!
11/11/2002
This is pretty good, merely it'due south missing something to brand information technology perfect...it needs a little more zing, but it's still yummy! Dearest the garlic mayo...I used no fat mayo.
07/28/2010
OMG! This is AMMMAAAZING!!!! I fabricated these last night for the hubs and a friend nosotros had over. WOW! I got compliments like crazy!! The garlic mayo is fantastic, just freakin' fantastic! I did utilise sirloin though, so tender and juicy! Mmm MMm MMM!! Thanks so much for sharing this admittedly delicious recipe. No eating house sandwich volition ever compare!
02/04/2012
These were wonderful! My husband commented several times how great these were and my girls loved them besides. As others suggested I did add a couple unlike kinds of cheeses. I toasted the buns, and on merely i side I melted provolone under the broiler, then topped with the meat, added mancheca and mozzarella cheese and melted nether the broiler, took out and added my sauteed onion/mushroom/light-green pepper vegetables and put the mayo/garlic sauce of the other bun. I brand these exactly the same way next fourth dimension. I as well cooked my veggies seperate from the meat. And added montreal seasoning to the beefiness.
03/21/2012
Well what a nice care for this sandwich was this night, I savored every unmarried bite of information technology. I used some acme sirloin steak cut very thin, recommend past my butcher. I did marinate the meat for a few hours in some Teriyaki sauce and spices. I also made the mayo/garlic upwards early so it had fourth dimension for the flavors to meld together. I didn't want to over cook the meat, so I cooked in this guild: The onions first until tender, and so added the bell peppers for a few minutes then the mushrooms, pushing each 1 aside as I added the next. The last thing I cooked was my sirloin meat until only turning brown, only a few minutes... and so stirred it all together and let it cook about some other infinitesimal. I too lightly buttered my roll prior to plopping my steak and pepper mixture on them. Put slices of Mozzarella on tiptop of the meat mixture and then open faced under the broiler on low for only a few minutes, my oven was already hot since I fabricated some fries. Kept a shut middle and equally soon every bit the cheese was melted I removed them. Generously spread the garlic mayonnaise on the top function of the bun. And I must say I'm not a peachy fan of mayonnaise just it made these sandwiches go over the top. I also think the little butter spread on the buns was a great addition to the flavor. My hubby was a very happy man this night! Thanks Tera.
12/01/2012
Fabulous! I did use sirloin instead of round steak..and added mushrooms (personal fav), merely this recipe would stand perfectly on its own without whatever changes. The garlic mayo is amazing flavour improver! Whether or not information technology's true "Philly" matters not to this Texan. It's a great sandwich no matter what ya telephone call it!
07/29/2012
I wish this had ten stars considering information technology would have been an 11. I sooooo love this one. I only did to dissimilar things I had sliced Mozeralla Cheese and since I did not take steak I used 1lb of hamburger and 1lb of susage and it was Awesome!!!!!!! That was the but things I did differently and my husband said this is the best Philly Cheese(burger)steak he has e'er had. He also said he really similar the hamburger because none of it was chewey like sometimes that happens with the steak. My kids even cleaned there plates, and my father in police thought I went to a sub shop and got it. Cheers so much for sharing this.:):)
12/06/2010
Great! Shredded roast beefiness. Put steak seasoning on information technology for 3 hours. Good hoagie rolls toasted with butter. shredded mozzarella and top with provalone. Cook in preheated 475 oven for 5 min.
06/eleven/2006
fabulous! i loved information technology... married man loved it... kids loved information technology! wow!
08/10/2012
Loved this! All-time Philly I've ever had! Just thing I inverse was that I seasoned the meat before cooking it.. Using salt, pepper, garlic and onion powders. This manner the meat actually had flavor and didn't gustatory modality similar merely meat! It was AMAZING! Will def. make again.
09/14/2011
These were yummy. I added them to the recipe box, will definitely make over again...my fellow ate two and asked if in that location were more! leftover meat mix can exist put into tortillas and eaten like fajitas....just proverb. :D
09/22/2009
This is not your traditional "Philly" cheesesteak. And all the changes everyone is making takes it even farther away from a real Philly cheesesteak. That'due south ok. If you can't go the real thing it's ok to attempt and indistinguishable. Number ane rule is you must have a superior hoagie roll or yous've lost half of the battle. Number 2, utilise top round chipped steak. The rest is up to you, and cheese whiz is a rule in Philly merely, I don't care for it. And, if you're always in Philly, best place to get for anykinda sandwich is Tony Luke's..
11/02/2011
I honey this equally-is, only over the years I've added a couple of tablespoons of cream cheese and some shredded mozzarella to the meat/veg mixture and cook it. Then I spoon the filling on to toasted buns/garlic mayo, put slices of provolone on top, and bake.
12/27/2010
This was very good and my whole family loved it. I only had Swiss cheese and it turned out peachy.
07/12/2006
My family unit loved this, but I did brand some changes. I used skirt steak instead of round steak. I also used sliced mozzarella instead of shredded. I idea that putting the sandwiches in a 500 degree oven would make the buns as well hard so I wrapped each sandwich in foil and put them in a 350 caste oven for approx. eight minutes till the cheese was melted and they came out perfect! I did take some mayo mix left over and will make a petty less of this mixture side by side time. It may not be the original Philly Cheesesteak, merely information technology's however a great recipe!
04/12/2006
WOW!! These sandwiches were And then awesome, I thought I was eating at a eating place! Super like shooting fish in a barrel & quick to brand, & packed Full of flavor. I used Whole Wheat buns & they were smashing! Thanks for an awesome recipe!
06/16/2011
This is a pretty obvious recipe, but boy did it become some rave reviews! My husband rated it five stars for taste and I requite it five stars for simplicity! I've tried many recipes for doctored up mayo that were much more than complicated than this. Now I'chiliad asking myself why I went to all the problem! I sliced the meat thin, grated the cheese and fabricated the mayo the night before. The next day I came abode from work, sauteed the onions/meat, piled information technology all on hoagies and minutes later had a fabulous, filling dish on the table.
x/13/2008
I make this quite frequently now, it is such an piece of cake and delicious meal. I always add sliced mushrooms, and I often just buy deli roast beef to save time. The garlic mayo is a must!
03/01/2010
WOW!!! My husband and I absolutely loved this one, and the garlic mayo totally made the sandwich! We made a couple of very slight changes- seared the steaks on the grill; sauteed the veggies while they grilled, then combined; also, we used garlic salt instead of plain, added correct after toss-frying the sliced steak and veggies together, to blend the flavors and oestrus information technology support. The mayo was the PERFECT touch- we made it every bit stated in the recipe- that may be our new favorite condiment! The garlic keeps its fresh, spicy grapheme, yet isn't overwhelming. Overall, this is one GREAT recipe- thank you, so very, very much! :o)
02/21/2010
This was FABULOUS! Made mine using the crockpot AND bought some thinly sliced steak from the grocery store (it came in a package chosen "thinly sliced steak" from Kroger. Put it in the crockpot with 3/4 loving cup water and a packet of onion soup mix. Cooked on low for 5 hours. I didn't have green bong peppers so I used a red bell papper - sauteed it in a skillet with olive oil, kosher table salt & cracked pepper forth with the onions. Very yummy - hubby loved information technology, too!
08/04/2011
We dearest these!
09/09/2011
These were SO AMAZING! I attempted to make cheesesteaks in one case earlier & the result was simply and so-then, and so my expectations were depression to begin with. These blew me away! I added some Mrs. Dash to the garlic mayo & used one dark-green and one red pepper for color & flavor. I marinated the meat in some soy sauce, Worcestershire, & A1 for nearly an hr before cooking. I sauteed the onions and peppers separately with some seasonings & a little carbohydrate to caramelize. The savory meat with the sugariness onions & peppers was a to-die-for combination! I used sourdough hoagies and skipped the oregano.
03/30/2015
First-class sandwich recipe. I did employ others suggestions and used sirloin steak. I did marinate the beef and broiled it (too common cold to grill) then sliced it thin and added it to the bun with the peppers and onions. The garlic mayo is a must. I have some picky eaters who aren't thrilled with the total raw flavor of garlic then I roasted a caput of garlic in the oven for xxx minutes and and then mashed it well and added it to almost ii cups of mayo, I was doubling the recipe. Adjacent time I effort this I think I might as well make upward some Sour Cream And Horseradish Sauce, I think that would go very nicely with this. Great easy recipe and yummy.
02/27/2011
Excellent
09/23/2009
This recipe was actually adept the garlic mayo is a hit. Circular steak is a tougher cut of meat and then I simmered it in beef goop, minced garlic and a trivial soy for most 35 min then I added the green pepper, onion and fresh mushroom. I sprinkled them with italian seasoning instead of oregeno and they were very tasty.

UPDATE: Fabricated THESE Once again, Only THIS TIME, I USED ROUND STEAK. I WAS TOO LAZY TO USE MY MEAT SLICER (I STILL THINK THIS IS Fundamental), But WAS VERY Conscientious TO CUT MY MEAT SUPER Thin. I ALSO DIDN'T Cook IT VERY LONG (I LEFT It MEDIUM-WELL) AND S&P'D REALLY WELL (NO SEASONING THIS Fourth dimension Effectually). MY MEAT WAS VERY TENDER AND OH And then YUMMY! NOT ONLY IS THE THICKNESS OF YOUR MEAT IMPORTANT, Not OVERCOOKING IT IS EQUALLY Of import. SUPERB! Null compares to the "real" deal, simply even so, this wasn't bad at all. The garlic mayo REALLY kicks this upward a notch! On the flipside, I retrieve my hubs and I would have liked this MUCH better if our meat was sliced razor thin (albeit I tried my best to piece mine VERY thin). Although I used sandwich steaks instead of round steak (butcher's recommendation), they were withal a far too thick. Bottom line, unless yous slice your own beef PAPER thin (or with a meat slicer), your sandwich won't be truly "authentic." I'd also similar to annotation that it's IMPERATIVE to remove your meat when you saute your bong peppers / onions. By the time my veggies were crisp tender, my meat was overcooked. :( Other than subbing sandwich steaks and altering the cooking method slightly, my merely other alter was seasoning my beef with Montreal steak seasoning almost a half hr before preparing our sandwiches. Served with french fries and our favorite beer, this was a decent meal. Leftovers will make yummy fajitas. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Tera! :-)
04/11/2009
This was a great recipe! I seasoned up the meat with garlic pulverization and montreal steak seasoning and let it set up for a few hours. Too, I made upwards the mayo and permit it set to really get the flavour through. Will be calculation these to our menu rotation.
01/17/2008
This was declared a 'keeper' by the entire family after the showtime bite! The garlic mayo is wonderful and really makes the sandwich. Exist sure to make the mayo in advance and let the flavors blend. I followed the recipe as written, except used slices of mozzarella instead of shredded and placed the sandwiches under the broiler for a quick trip to melt the cheese. Yummmmy, cheers for the recipe!
12/xix/2011
Wasn't blown away by this. Used thin sliced sirloin. Was too expensive and not good enough for u.s.a. to have again.
01/30/2010
Non a Philly Cheesesteak but still a good sandwich. I wouldn't brand mollusk chowder with tomatoes and call it New England clam chowder.
05/06/2010
Thank Yous! And so good!
02/thirteen/2011
We loved this recipe!!! The only change I made was I switched the mayo to a horseradish mayo. Neat recipe...
06/22/2011
Loved this recipe!! We used a pound of cafeteria top round roast beef sliced sparse. Used one green pepper and ane red and added a bundle of mushrooms. Only fabricated half cup of mayo only used one and a half teaspons of minced garlic. Too used provolone instead of mozzarella. Came out astonishing! My fiance lived in Philly and said this was one of his favorite cheesesteaks ever. Will use once more.
08/16/2010
The better ingredients nosotros use, the meliorate this turns out. My kids will ask for this on a nighttime they are coming in late after sports.
08/16/2009
Loved the garlic-mayo! I used swiss cheese and was still awesome. I toasted the hoagie buns under the broiler first, so slopped the residuum on, back under the broiler for a final melt....worth the extra 4 minutes.
06/05/2003
I loved this sandwich! I used sirloin instead of the suggested meat and fabricated it very rare. I only used mushrooms and cheese and it was so yummy. Agree that information technology needs some other spice, or more common salt and pepper.
05/05/2011
This was great.. We made this in foods form in my High Schoolhouse.. We didn't use the green peppers because our grocery store was out. Nosotros also didn't the Garlic Mayo. Instead we used butter and some Garlic salt and broiled the bread a bit. So loaded the meat and onions and lots of cheese. And then broiled that. Nosotros also didn't use oregano.. Overall this was a great sandwich.. I will be making this over again!
03/29/2011
The garlic mayo was a prissy twist on this sandwich, but I used white american cheese as that is what most places in PA utilise when you get to the pizza/diner shops and gild a cheese steak. Some places utilise marinara sauce only I liked the tang of the mayo better.
03/02/2007
Wonderul sandwich! I will definately make this again. It was perfect!
02/ten/2010
My husband and kids are yet talking about how wonderful this sandwich was. My recommendations are: I sauteed the onions and peppers in olive oil first, remove from pan...I and then seasoned the meat (I used sirloin steak) with bounding main table salt and blackness pepper and seared on all sides in drippings from the onions and peppers. I transfered everything, including 1/iv cup of beef broth to a crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours. Served with roasted garlic mayo, mozzarella cheese and sautee mushrooms on bagette warm bread. Yum!
04/24/2006
Very yummy. Served with Au Juice. Nosotros used Havarti instead of motzza. Mmmm!
11/07/2006
We LOVED this recipe. I made it only a few weeks ago and my husband has requested it once again. I did make a few adjustments, I used left over roast that I quickly sauteed, I added mushrooms to the onion/pepper mixture and I used less mayo than was called for (as per other reviews). YUM!
02/09/2011
The garlic mayo is yummy, this sandwich is excellent!!
05/14/2008
I used the garlic mayo from this recipe, but added it to the spiced meat from the site's other Philly Steak Sandwich recipe. Together, they made for i of the best sandwiches I've had in a long fourth dimension! Mmmmmmm!
11/09/2009
The simply reason i am giving 4 stars is considering i made a couple changes but I think it would of been crawly either way,I put shredded provolone in the beef mixture to make that creamy philly cheesesteak texture,I also added hot banana peppers on top,for spice and I added seasoning salt, onion pulverization and garlic cloves to the meat mixture, for flavour....thank you for the garlic mayo idea that was awesome gotta endeavour it with the garlic mayo...twas then much a hit my house we had the leftovers the adjacent day for dinner once more lol ty for the base recipe!!
03/01/2011
This is astonishing. I recall the garlic mayo only adds to it. Add a footling garlic salt to the mayo.....yummy!!!
02/22/2012
Excellent! I'd cut the garlic may down almost a 1/four of a cup, simply it was cracking!
01/30/2010
I volition concur that this isn't a typical philly cheesesteak. However, it was very skillful with the adjustments I made. I put montreal steak seasoning on the steak strips and sauteed with butter and the minced garlic. I find that for me, using oil cooks my meat as well fast and makes it tough. I added some worcestershire sauce as well and and then added the onion, bell pepper, some fresh mushrooms and some italian seasoning. I broiled for virtually 5 min and then broiled for a few and then the cheese got brownish and the rolls got crispy on the top. We didn't employ any mayonnaise. Information technology turned out very well.
03/08/2012
They were a HUGE hitting at my house! Wouldn't alter a matter! And will make once more!
08/28/2011
FANTASTIC!! I loved the mayo - inverse it up with a little lemon pepper and it was amazing. I also made homemade hoagies - so perfect - and used veggie cheese on mine (regular cheese on hubby'due south). Great recipe!
03/x/2010
Wasn't sure nearly the mayo when I first read the recipe. Only OMG was I incorrect. The garlic mayo made this sandwich GREAT!! I just used sliced roast beef from the deli and put provolone cheese on the sandwiches. They are an awesome quick dinner that has get a family favorite. I tin can't expect to brand them again.
02/19/2010
wow oh wow! this sandwhich is amazing. wouldn't change a affair...just demand to find a meat that isn't as tough. but overall information technology is and then dee-lish! and the garlic mayo really is crawly!
04/09/2007
So Good! equally suggested past others I used roast beef from the cafeteria sliced a little thick. I carmelized the onions. The garlic mayo was neat. I'll make these again & again!
01/09/2012
Made this dish over the weekend and it was a hit. Wanted to try out the new electric grill I had recived equally a Christmas gift, and this was the perfect fourth dimension to put information technology to the test. I cooked the steaks beginning, let them rest off to the side for about ten min while warming hoagie rolls in oven. Sliced steaks thin, and rather then using mozzarella cheese I served with grated cheddar and pepper jack that I already had on mitt, placed sandwiches back in oven on depression broil til cheese melted. .. will make over again.
01/23/2007
Very good. I used roast beef from the cafeteria and merely added it to the onions and peppers that I was sauteeing. My hubby really likes these sandwiches.
03/twenty/2012
i don't like peppers so i replaced them with mushrooms. I took sparse cut steak and marinated in dales chicken marinade. Then i tossed it in a very hot pan for simply seconds. Meanwhile, i have a large onion and mushrooms dull cooking and the bread toasting. I used the mayo garlic spread and i was wonderful. now back to the meat... Afterwards quick cooking it i sliced it in strips. I heated the marinated and added a trivial more to it and threw the meat back in information technology. i places the meat on the toasted bun and topped in with cheese and melt it, topped it with onions and mushrooms. I served the marinade on the side equally a sauce
03/05/2013
this recipe rocks!!!!! i absolutely recommend this to anybody.
03/26/2003
This recipe is absolutely fabled! I used both swiss and mozzarella. This sandwich is not like others.
01/28/2010
I have been making this recipe for a few years now and decided I should rate information technology. Information technology is past far my husbands (and my) FAVORITE dinner. I love the garlic mayo. I do always add mushrooms to the veggie mix and have experiemented with dissimilar spices and exercise find I really enjoy a little worshirshire (sp?) and steak seasoning. But don't skip on the oregano, I remember it really makes the sandwich. Italian seasoning works peachy too! Thanks for such a great dish!!!
03/24/2013
This was delicious!!!! I seasoned the meat before putting it into the skillet with grill seasoning. While information technology was cooking I added salt and oregano. I also toasted the rolls earlier spreading the mayo! Adjacent time I will add together some jalapeños and mushrooms!!!!!
03/02/2010
Delicious! Very impressed with such an easy sandwich to assemble.
07/24/2012
These were very delish! My kids wont impact any type of mayo, so I made the garlic mayo for me and husband, and fabricated garlic butter from this site then toasted the hogies for the kids. Thanks for posting Yum!
06/18/2012
Awesome! I followed another reviewer's advice and bought sirloin steak, seasoned it with steak seasonings (+1 Tbl. olive oil), and marinated it in the fridge overnight. My only mistake was cutting the meat in slices earlier marinating. I remember I should have left the meat as packaged, marinated it, and so sauteed it. Although I marinated it with seasonings, I all the same needed to sprinkle it with salt and pepper afterward cooking. Garlic in the mayonnaise is fundamental! I sprinkled the dried oregano (leaves, not powder!) on the mayonnaise that I spread on the staff of life, and information technology toasted up very nicely. I sauteed the peppers and onions separately in 1 Tbl. olive oil - it took a while to cook and would have stale out the meat if I hadn't. Thanks for the recipe!
05/11/2006
I made this tonight and it was a huge striking! I am pregnant and was craving Philly Cheesesteak and it actually striking the spot! I added mushrooms, and added some garlic to the meat and veggies while they were cooking. I used Swiss cheese slices instead of what the receipe suggested. Definitely will exist making this one over again very soon!!!
01/24/2012
Love this sandwich, followed it pretty much to a T. I may have added more spices to the meat simply overall, I actually stayed true to information technology. Ii pocket-size garnishment changes: I opted for Archer Subcontract'south horseradish dip instead of the garlic mayo...and I added roasted pepper rings to the heated sandwiches. My fam loved these for Sunday football games!
03/10/2008
This was actually good! The reason I give information technology four stars instead of five, is I didnt feel like the meat that the recipe called for was correct. Or mayhap not what I was used too!? I similar super thin and mine came out more than of like a fajita manner...probably something I did wrong!? And so I remember next time I will follow others suggestions and get a different kind of meat, mayhap fifty-fifty a roast beef from the deli counter? The garlic mayo really did make information technology wonderful though! Never thought of mixing the two!
02/07/2012
This was my first fourth dimension making Philly Cheesesteaks, and I'm so happy I found this recipe. Super easy to follow, and tasted bang-up!
eleven/26/2011
a delicious accept on an old favorite- also, with just a little tweaking, makes a great stuffing for a crescent gyre braid.
09/14/2009
These sandwiches were really very skilful! I made the mayo with garlic powder out of pure laziness & add together some Parmesan cheese to information technology likewise. I fabricated the steak and allow it simmer till mostly tender, adding some Worcestershire sauce to give it a lilliputian sauce. I put the sandwiches together and added the cheese and popped it in the nuker to melt the cheese.Wonderful season!I put pickled jalapenos on the side for a picayune rut.Perfect:) Thank You Tera!! I volition be making these once again!!
04/12/2008
Made this last night, in a footling different way: Use sirloin steak, cut into strips seasoned with Cavendar's Greek seasoning, put in a foil pouch and cooked on gas grill. In another foil pouch put dark-green peppers and blood-red onion slices and cooked that on the grill. Took a loaf of french bread sliced in half horizontally and toasted in oven, put meat, peppers, and onions on top, placed swiss cheese on pinnacle of that so let cheese cook in oven. Used the garlic mayo besides and it was wonderful....information technology made the sandwich complete, don't skip it!
01/12/2015
This was amazing! My family loved information technology!! Even my two year old ate information technology and we added assistant peppers! Next time I will do all sorts of peppers! If you love Philly cheesesteak then you must attempt this one!!
02/06/2013
Wonderful sandwich! My fellow and I truly enjoyed. Thank you for sharing!
07/02/2006
This was very tasty! Not quite a Philly cheesesteak, but a real skilful steak sandwich, nontheless. I used only one onion and 1 one/2 greenpepper and added sliced mushrooms to my mix. I topped the mini sub buns that I used with sliced cheese versus shredded. Good recipe, thanks!
07/07/2009
Incredibly tasty sandwich! I used one green and one carmine bong pepper and added some fresh mushrooms. Instead of using oil to cook the meat, I threw information technology in a pan with some soy and Worschestire to give information technology some more flavor. Used provolone instead of mozzarella, since information technology was on sale. This was my starting time time making these sandwiches and it certainly won't be my concluding! Thank you!
10/xi/2011
This was yummy and full of flavor. My daughter 13yo (who is a picky eater) said that this is the only way she will eat steak for now on. She said non to change a affair. I used red peppers as that is all I had. I had everything on hand which was a plus. My married man had cooked a HUGE steak two days agone and I needed a recipe to apply up the left overs. This receipe is a total WINNER! I would cook steak merely so I tin make this!
08/10/2007
I loved this recipe. Very tasty, the garlic mayo was a nice touch and my hubby loved this too
06/11/2011
I had seen this on the recipe buzz quite a few times and finally decided to attempt information technology. I had to lighten it up a bit for wellness reasons, but not for taste. I used low-cal mayo and cheese, and only half suggested, and a lean cut of beef. I idea it tasted like something that would come up from a restaurant. If I ever fabricated again I would make sure the beef is shut to newspaper sparse and employ a soft bun. It was a bit much to chew with a crustier sub roll and the beef cut a piddling as well thick by the store's butcher. I would as well think about dividing it among viii small buns, instead of 4, as one/2 sandwich would have been plenty. I think the garlic and oregano actually added extra flavor. This was fabulous! My boyfriend is a large deer hunter so I used venison back strap that i marinated an hour in Montreal Steak seasoning and didnt demand the salt or pepper. Definatly a lunch time favorite from at present on.

My family loved these sandwiches. Made exactly as stated but left off the onions and peppers for the kids on their sandwiches. They also added steak sauce to their sandwiches. They commonly hate mayo just loved the gustation on these sandwiches. Used calorie-free mayo. Would definetly make again. Thanks

Excellent. I tried to brand Philly cheesesteak sandwiches like those we ate in Philly. First mix upwardly the garlic mayo - it'south delicious. I carmelized onion and set up aside. We do not similar light-green peppers and so I skipped those. I used sirloin, sliced thin by the meat dept. I may effort to use ribeye next time, considering ribeye meat is so much more tender and has more than flavour (information technology'south but harder to piece thin). I sliced the meat into strips of uniform size. Cooked meat co-ordinate to directions. Sliced and toasted ciabatta rolls in the oven. Spread mayo mixture on rolls and on top of the mayo mixture spread on a generous helping of some warm Cheese Whiz - which they apply in Philly. The ciabatta rolls are nice because they are sturdy and accept little nooks for the mayo, juices and Cheese Whiz. Then topped each sandwich with meat. Badabingbadaboom. We all idea we were in Philly instead of Phoenix.

Oh my! what an awesome recipe! we gobbled them up and debated who would go the last sandwich, information technology was so wonderful!!! I did calibration way back on the mayo but put enough on to gustation the garlic/mayo combo and it really made all the difference in flavor. I will exist making this recipe again and again!

I love cheesesteak sandwiches. This was very good and the garlic mayo was a nice addition. My strips of steak weren't every bit tender every bit I would adopt. Maybe next fourth dimension I will try cooking the meat in a crockpot as recommended past another reviewer or my new pressure cooker!
